12-2-08 Building Update

We wanted to continue to add new pictures of the buidling project as we receive them from Pastor Greg in Cambodia. Here you see a new view of the building from the road you take in approaching the property.

Here is another picture from the rear of the building.

Here is a picture taken from the front of the building, showing the great progress that the contractor and his team are making on the building. The dedication is set for January 9th.

October 2nd, 2008

The building is progressing nicely, with the newest work being done on the roofing supports for the main building.

The east missionary apartment is nearing completion with the tile being laid and the finishing touches being done on the walls and the kitchen.

This picture shows one of the workers finishing the airblock on the kitchen that is attached to the main dining hall.

This picture shows the conference room which will hold meetings of the WBI staff and the DBA in the future. This room had a dirt floor just one week earlier, showing the great gains that the contractor and his team are making each week.

These workers are laying the tile on the front hallway on the second floor of the school building.

This picture shows the chapel area that is being prepared for tile and is the staging area for working on the steel for the upper floors.

This picture shows a team of workers, the baby included, working to apply the stucco near the east stairwell on the second floor.

On the day of this update, several of our pastors traveled with us to view the new building. Here you are seeing Pastor Banyon of the Siem Reap church, one of our Bible School students Som On, and Pastor Piseth of the Ta Mien Church in Kampong Cham.

The sink, shelves and counter tops have been completed in the school’s kitchen that is situated off of the dining hall.

We are very pleased with the way that the red roof complements the white walls on the exterior of the building.

This picture shows the interior of one of the staff housing units where the walls and floor are nearing completion and the tile is ready to be laid.

The workers are also applying the stucco to back side of the school.

This picture shows the exterior of the main building complex where, in the future, you will see staff and students moving along these walkways on the way to the offices, to classes or to a chapel service. It is exciting to dream about that day.

As can be seen from this picture, the major accomplishments for this update are the roof for the chapel and the stucco on the exterior of the chapel.

Here is another picture of the front of the school building, showing more of the chapel/dining hall complex.

A view from the west side of the building.

The roof for the chapel is nearling completion, with just a small section on the rear of the chapel, not shown here, being left to be completed.

Having the roof in place makes the chapel seem very spacious.

The scaffolding surrounding the exterior of the chapel.

The third floor will hold the student housing. Here you are seeing one of the dorm rooms that is still under construction.

This picture shows the front view of the building, and by comparing it to the previous update, you can see that the stucco on the second floor is nearly complete, and the roofing supports for the main part of the school are being constructed.

This picture was taken in one of the second floor classrooms. The view over the rice fields is very beautiful and the breeze coming over the fields will cool the room nicely for our students when they study in this room.

This picture shows one of the Khmer staff apartments on the second floor. The alcove on the left will be a closet and the door on the right leads to the small kitchen and bathroom.

This picture shows the workers applying the stucco on the exterior of the chapel. For those experienced in construction and scaffolding in the United States, you will appreciate, or should we say shudder, at the scaffolding that these workers are using.

This picture shows a broader view of the exterior of the chapel and the amount of the stucco that has been completed by the workers.

This picture shows the interior of the area that will be the library of the school. However, at this time, it is being used to store the plumbing materials for the building project.
